Background
While fleeing from an orcish invasion, Stormvale's refugees had journeyed into the Oldwood Forest, home of a number of woses, led by Elilmaldur-Rithrandil, under attack from the orcs. The refugees' leader, Prince Haldric, helped to drive out the orcs, killing the two warlords. Elilmaldur-Rithrandil was unable to accompany the refugees on their journey, but he did offer to open the catacombs below a temple nearby, wherein Haldric could defeat the Lich-Lord Lenvan and steal the Ruby of Fire.[1]

Haldric entered the catacombs, hearing Lenvan call out with delight that the spell binding him inside the catacombs had been lifted. Haldric led his men over a pool, inhabited by at least one tentacled monster, and faced Lenvan's undead forces. Haldric managed to slay Lenvan and retrieve the Ruby of Fire, before returning to the surface.[2]
Notes
- ^ The Wesfolk only joined Haldric if he chose to spare the Wesfolk leader's life.
