As with the last releases, we continue to offer two versions of changelogs: a rather nice to read [http://svn.gna.org/viewcvs/wesnoth/tags/1.5.12/players_changelog?rev=33271&view=download players changelog] that only includes changes every player will probably notice and the (rather) [http://svn.gna.org/viewcvs/wesnoth/tags/1.5.12/changelog?rev=33271&view=download complete changelog] with (almost) all the details, which is likely to cause a serious headache...

As on previous occasions, we also offer two versions of the changelog: a trimmed-down [https://raw.github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/1.13.8/players_changelog players changelog] including only those items considered to be relevant in regular gameplay, and a more technical [https://raw.github.com/wesnoth/wesnoth/1.13.8/changelog full changelog] for enthusiasts and content creators.

Only 8 days after the second beta, now is already time for the third beta of the upcoming stable 1.6 series. The reason for this is that some pest-control came around to kill about a zillion bugs. Feel free to celebrate the new release with us in [http://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=24247 this forum thread].

===Google Summer of Code 2009===

''Sunday, February 15 2009''

We will try to get into Google Summer of Code just like last year. If you don't know what Summer of Code is, have a look at the [http://code.google.com/opensource/gsoc/2009/faqs.html official Summer of Code FAQ]. it is an option for a student to work with an open source project as summer job. Last year projects for Battle for Wesnoth were for example rewriting the editor (now it is completely rewritten and can be started right from the game) and adding extended AI controls in WML (the so called "Formula AI"). We will post an update if we are accepted into the program.

A happy new year to all Wesnoth contributors and players out there! To provide you with a good start for the year 2009, we have a small present for you: the brand new development release 1.5.7. Over the last weeks we added lots of great stuff, for example the new way of showing dialogs ingame. Several unit types are already converted to this type, but there are several known issues still open with it which will be taken care of over the next weeks. Celebrate the new release and year with us in [http://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=23484 this forum thread].
