"Hellenia" is a scenario from The Altaz Mariners, being one of the campaign's potentially visitable islands, although whether it can be visited depends on whether the campaign's initial generation picks this or "Isle of Neafsey" to be visitable.

Gameplay

Largo, Hugo, and followers start at the southwest shore of the island. There are a couple of temples throughout the map that can be looted for gold, items, and cargo, but most of the temples are occupied by a philosopher. To move a philosopher out of the way, the player must talk to him and another philosopher that have the opposite opinion, and then argue that one of them is wrong. The argued philosopher will leave to talk with their counterpart before returning to his home temple, meaning the time to loot the temple is limited. The pairings are as follows:

  • Aristotle (provoked by arguing that "philosophers" should rule) and Plato (provoked by endorsing "democracy")
  • Heraclitus (provoked by arguing that the nature of things is "unchanging") and Parmenides (provoked by saying only "change" itself is unchanging).
  • Zeno (provoked by saying "pleasure" is the root of happiness) and Epicurus (provoked by saying "virtue" is the root of happiness)

At the end of the main path, there is Socrates who may provide the player with a book if the player asks to be educated.

Trivia

  • All the philosophers are named and have their beliefs based after real Greek philosophers. Hellenia itself is named after "Hellen" which is another word for Greek.
