Accepted in Google Summer of Code 2009
Wednesday, March 18 2009
We have been accepted into Summer of Code 2009. If you don't know what Summer of Code is, have a look at the official Summer of Code FAQ. It is an option for a student to work with an open source project as summer job. Last year projects for Battle for Wesnoth were for example rewriting the editor (now it is completely rewritten and can be started right from the game) and adding extended AI controls in WML (the so called "Formula AI").
You can find a page with what you should do if you are interested in participating in Summer of Code 2009 as a developer for Wesnoth in our wiki. You should carefully read this page and also join our IRC channel #wesnoth-dev on irc.freenode.net to talk to us.
Wesnoth 1.5.14: Third release candidate for 1.6
Monday, March 16 2009
The third and really last release candidate for the new 1.6 stable line is ready for some final tests. We do need your feedback to make sure that the new 1.6 line will be even better and more stable than the 1.4.x series. So please get this release candidate and please report all bugs you find. Feel free to celebrate the new release with us in this forum thread.
As with the last releases, we continue to offer two versions of changelogs: a rather nice to read players changelog that only includes changes every player will probably notice and the (rather) complete changelog with (almost) all the details, which is likely to cause a serious headache...
At the moment the Windows package and the MacOSX packages are ready. You can find them at the download page. Once the others are done you can find them at the download page, too. If you find a bug, please report it.

Happy new year!
Thursday, January 1 2009
A happy new year to all Wesnoth contributors and players out there! To provide you with a good start for the year 2009, we have a small present for you: the brand new development release 1.5.7. Over the last weeks we added lots of great stuff, for example the new way of showing dialogs ingame. Several unit types are already converted to this type, but there are several known issues still open with it which will be taken care of over the next weeks. Celebrate the new release and year with us in this forum thread.
