Black Rock

"Black Rock" is a scenario from The Altaz Mariners, being one of the campaign's visitable islands. The scenario is a small skirmish and can only be accessed if the Hilldon quest has progressed to the point the player has heard from Farrow that Hilldon once worked for Renaldo.

Storyline

Having found out that Hilldon is hiding here from Rodgers on Farrow, Largo and Hugo land on small isle, telling their men to stay on the ship as they want to do this alone. After blocking a water stream separating them from Hilldon, they confront their former first mate, who explains that he dumped Renaldo's gold due to being boarded by the royals and offers the brothers a treasure map. Largo and Hugo prefer to kill him instead, although it is possible for Hilldon to escape instead. Either way, Hilldon would drop the map to Peoria Ruins.

Gameplay

First visit

Largo and Hugo start on the northwest shore of the island without any backup. They have to gather a boulder and some clay (from the mud hex) and use them (using the inventory) while standing in a walkable part of the waters blocking their path to the east. This turns the deep water hexes into shallow waters that the mariners can cross. Hilldon is hidden in the shroud and will attack the approaching player characters, but if he isn't killed immediately, he is likely to immediately go to his ship and escape. Whether the player kills Hilldon or not, he would drop a map (for accessing Peoria Ruins) that has to be picked up to end the scenario.
