GCI/Playtesting/Northern Rebirth/Difficult

From The Battle for Wesnoth Wiki

1) Breaking the Chains

Difficult, 1.9.2

Bloody hard. My poor peasants were slaughtered easily, until I got about two leveled up units on the field. 8/10

Scenario objectives clear

Dialog served very well to illustrate the campaign. The storyline had me interested about three scenes in.

My major challenge in meeting the objectives of this scenario was holding on to the units that actually had experience. The orcs seemed to naturally gravitate towards slaughtering those units with more than 3 exp.

This scenario was darn good fun. I like that my peasants can go either direction, makes it easier to choose which units to kill the enemy with. 8/10

To make this more fun, I would make the hero unit a little different from the starter children..or at least give SOME of the starting peasants swords.

No cause for restarting.

No bugs to report

2) Infested Caves

Difficult, 1.9.2

That was ridiculously hard. 9/10.

Scenario objectives were clear – I never DID find the dwarves…had to slaughter everyone.

The dialogue for whenever you find a ‘hidden’ door is the same for both doors. Beyond that, it was clear. The storyline is beginning to get epic.

My major challenge in meeting the objectives of this scenario was realizing what all I was facing. Not only did I have to completely switch gears from Lawful to Chaotic units, I had to do it with no prior Chaotic units to assist me. The sheer numbers of the enemies, in the tight spaces, made this mission near impossible.

This scenario was more frustrating than fun. 7/10

To make this scenario more fun, put in some cinematics like in the other campaigns for the epilogue of this scenario. The whole thing with a picture, and then text, is boring.

I did actually restart, but not because of a bug. I restarted to approach the scenario from a different angle. I spammed a ton of thugs, and blocked off all three entrances to my base.

No bugs to report.

3) To the Mines Difficult, 1.9.2

This one was pretty easy. I had like 6 highwaymen… 5/10

Scenario objectives perfectly clear.

Dialogue was clear, minor error. Storyline...there wasn’t any in this mission. Just filler.

No major challenge to completing this mission.

This scenario made all that work on the last one worth it. 8/10

To make this scenario more fun…uhm…Make the goblins go, “Eep!” when they die? I dunno.

No cause for restarting.

--blank—

Possible error in spacing.

In the text at the start of the mission, “Once they left the caves theyfound that theyfaced a new threat” It appears to be lacking two spaces. Theyfound and Theyfaced are no compound words I have ever heard of.

4) Clearing the Mines

Difficult, 1.9.2

This one was hard. Especially with that little surprise on wave 21. 9/10

Scenario objectives crystal clear

Dialogue was clear, and the storyline what I expected.

My major challenge in completing this mission was dealing with the virtual HORDES of enemies.

This scenario was pretty fun because of the number of level ups my minions got out of it. Must have like, 12 steelclads now..8/10

To make this scenario more fun, give the dwarves longer legs? At least give them another move’s worth. No cause for restarting, beyond trying a different tactic.

--blank—

No bugs to report.

5) The Pursuit

Difficult, 1.9.2’

This one was pretty hard, but I managed to beat it in a reasonable time, I think. 8/10

Scenario objectives were easy to understand.

Dialogue was hilarious. I love the priestly pair. The storyline was true to the game, as ever. My major challenge in completing this mission was getting a working strategy.

This scenario was not only fun, but it had some great humor in it. 9/10

To make this scenario more fun? Um…drawing a blank here. Give us a full fledged dragon? Maybe make us kill one?

No good cause for retrying.

--blank--

Error in spelling – epilogue for this scenario – “He greeted them warmly, and arrangements were made for all their food and accommodations, as wall..” This should be “Well”

6) Old Friend

1.9.2, Difficult

This one was pretty easy. 5/10

Scenario objectives perfectly clear.

Dialogue was entertaining, storyline appears to have come full loop back to it’s start. No major challenge in completing this scenario.

This scenario was actually pretty fun. Poor orcs couldn’t even get CLOSE to getting through. 8/10

To make this scenario more fun, maybe make some random npc wander onto the map and get slaughtered. No cause for restarting.

--blank—

Better wording suggestion. Epilogue for this mission – “The number of humans and dwarves is limited, unlike the orcs whose numbers seem unlimited.” I propose you rephrase it, “Our numbers are limited, unlike the orcs who seem to have an infinite supply of warriors.”

Punctuation error in this same epilogue – “Can we assassinate this Rakshas fellow and throw them into disarray once more.” This sentence should end in a Question Mark, ?

7) Settling Disputes

1.9.2, Difficult.

This one was medium in terms of difficulty. 6/10

Scenario objectives clear.

Dialogue made me smile. The storyline is still clear. Dunno why these mages are liches though >.> Thought necromancers were supposed to be liches, not just regular mages. Meh.

No major challenge in completion.

I had some fun on this one. I got that drake guy to level up, he looks totally beast now. 8/10

To make this scenario more fun, give us active control of our allies. This whole dictating their behavior thing sucks. Not easy to use at all.

No cause for restarting.

--blank—

No bugs to report.

8) Elvish Princess

Difficult, 1.9.2

Pretty hard, I lost two dwarf kings on this one..9/10

Scenario objectives clear.

Dialogue was clear, storyline was accurate.

My major challenge in completion was submerge not working for my liches. There is deep water around the castle where the princess is held, and yet they failed to submerge.

This one wasn’t that fun. Losing level 3 units is never good. 6/10

To make this scenario more fun, give us either more income, or an npc assistant.

No cause for restarting.

--blank—

No bugs to report.

9) Introductions

Difficult, 1.9.2

Ridiculously easy. 4/10

Scenario objectives obvious.

Dialogue was surprising. Shoulda known the two elves would be related. Wonder why she didn’t speak up earlier though. Storyline was odd. I would think this elf would be just as arrogant as the rest, but w/e.

No major challenge in completion.

This one was obviously filler. 5/10 (Neutral)

To make this scenario more fun, put stuff down the side halls that’s worth getting.

No cause for retrying.

--blank—

No bugs to report

10) Stolen Gold

Difficult, 1.9.2

This one was hard until I found a working strategy. 8/10

Scenario objectives clear.

The storyline is intriguing. These dragon-people interest me. The dialogue is clear.

No major challenge in completion.

This one was pretty fun, lots of dead trolls…8/10

Only cause for restarting was my own folly in strategy.

--blank—

No bugs to report.

11) The Eastern Flank

Difficult, 1.9.2

Ridiculously hard. Sheesh. Five on one? Really? 10/10.

Scenario objectives clear. Wondering how its going to work out what with me having accidentally killed Krash >.>

The storyline was interesting, but the dialogue made me wonder. Why isn’t this orc stupid enough to get blood thirsty and try to kill us himself, aren’t orcs stupid? Hm.

My major challenge in completion was caused by my own error. Should have recruited more with Krash. What a waste!

This one was actually kind of fun, when you ignore the difficulty factor. 8/10

No cause for restarting.

--blank—

No bugs to report.

12) Get the Gold

Difficult, 1.9.2

Not that hard, fairly easy actually. 6/10

Scenario objectives clear. Sisal friggin died on me -.-

The storyline and dialogue were clear, as ever.

My challenge in getting this done was attempting to keep this stupid npc from killing itself.

I gotta admit, it was nice to get back to basics with a bum rush charge! 9/10

No need to restart!

--blank—

No bugs to report.

13) Showdown!

Difficult, 1.9.2

I give up. No way in heck am I beating that. 10/10

Scenario objectives are easy to understand and impossible to complete.

Storyline and dialogue accurate.

My challenge in completing this is the fact that my allies are all but useless, and I’m broke as a joke, because I didn’t get my money back.

That was ridiculous. 3/10

No need to restart, because it will just lead to my death, again.

--blank—

Unless you count getting my rear handed to me, no.
