Wesnoth 1.3.3: Development Release
Sunday, May 28 2007
A new Development release is ready. This time we added quite a few new campaigns and several other things. Since I am too lazy to list all the great changes in here, better have a look at the forum thread which describes the most important changes. As with the last development releases, we continue to offer two versions of changelogs: a rather nice to read players changelog that only includes changes every player will probably notice and the (rather) complete changelog with (almost) all the details, which is likely to cause a serious headache...
The Mac binary is ready, the Windows binary is not. We will post a message and a link in this forum thread once it is available. Have a look at the download page for all the binaries that are already out, like the new Solaris binary. Please keep in mind that it is a development release which might include quite many bugs. If you find one, please report it. One was already found and fixed, have a look at this post for some info about some problematic multiplayer maps and a hotfix.
Update: The Windows binary is now ready, too. You can find it on the download page. It does even include the hotfix for the mp maps.
Wanted: "general purpose campaign maintainer"
Wednesday, May 9 2007
Now that we have changed our policies regarding the addition of campaigns to mainline we are looking for some volunteers to work on the mainline campaigns. This includes fixing bugs, balancing and all this stuff. Have a look at this forum thread for all the fancy details and how to contact us if you are willing to do the job.
Changed policies for campaigns
Monday, May 7 2007
Lately we have been thinking about what else we could do to improve the game beside simply improving graphics, musics/sounds and making WML more flexible. We came to one simple idea: we could ship more campaigns with the game. Since we also want to make it easier to get campaigns into mainline, we have changed our policy a little. The new policy is described in this forum thread. In short: It will be by far easier for a campaign to be added to mainline, but it will also be easier for it to be removed before a release. Especially before a new stable release we will carefully check which ones should be bundled with the game. Some campaigns have already added svn trunk and will be in the next development release, have a look at the forum thread for more info.

Wesnoth 1.3.2: Development Release
Thursday, April 26 2007
2 months of hard work have gone by and now 1.3.2 is available. Since I am too lazy to list all the great changes in here, better have a look at the forum thread where I did describe many things rather in detail. Like with the last development release we do again offer two versions of changelogs: a rather nice to read players changelog that only includes changes every player will probably notice and the (rather) complete changelog with (almost) all the details.
The Windows and Mac binaries are ready. Infos about some of the GNU/Linux binaries are already available at the download page and in the forum thread with the more complete announcement.
This development release is probably incompatible with most the pre 1.3.2 content you have, no matter if saves, replays or usermade content. If you use old content, don't complain if it does not work as expected... Keep in mind that it is a development release which might include quite many bugs. If you find one, please report it.
Planning for Wesconf 2007
Sunday, April 22 2007
In the last weeks we have been working on organizing a first international Wesnoth conference named 'Wesconf'. We are not 100% sure if we can manage everything needed but we do have a first announcement with some of our plans ready. Have a look at the respective forum post for some details about what Wesconf is meant to be, what we want to achieve and, even more important, when and where we want it to take place.
Wesnoth 1.2.4: Maintenance Release

Wesnoth 1.2.4 has been released. Quite some important changes did take place that should fix quite some bugs regarding savegames, recall lists and maybe even replays. Now tSG should be playable again. All the other nice and small fixes and additions can be found in the changelog. You can read the announcement and make your comments in this forum thread. The Mac and Windows binaries and infos about some of the GNU/Linux binaries are already available at the download page. The Debian package (that should also work with *ubuntu) should be available at the usual place, too.
If you have problems, follow the instructions given here. If this does not help, please report them.
Forums up and working
Sunday, April 8 2007
Wesnoth forums have been down for a few days due to data corruption in our database. It took more time than expected to recover because the administrator was not available. Note that we have tried to recover as much as possible, but some of the data might have been lost. Thanks for your patience.
WIP: Wii and PS3 version
Sunday, April 1 2007
Now that we got some basic gp2x support implemented in it's own branch and another (still quite early) alpha version is being uploaded to sf.net, I can now proudly announce that we are currently working on Wii and PS3 support. We are even playing a little with our first (closed alpha) version of the Wii port. Thanks to alinks patches for drag&drop it is huge fun to play it. For some more infos and a photo, have a look at the respective forum thread.

Wesnoth 1.3.1: Development Release
Monday, Febuary 26 2007
Wesnoth 1.3.1 is finally available. Compared to 1.2.x many things were changed in this brand new version. For example we now have a completely rewritten terrain engine supporting multiple letters. This allows to use many more different terrains and two new terrains were already added. But also a lot of other things did change. This also has a negative impact: It is likely that almost all usermade content that did work in 1.2.x will not work without problems in 1.3.1. Since there were really many changes in all areas of the game and it is a development version it might be more unstable than the stable 1.2 tree. Since quite a lot was rebalanced, balancing might not be as perfect yet as it is in 1.2.x. And finally, the damagetype 'holy' was changed to work a little bit different. So be warned, this one is the first development release, who knows what is broken...
Of course, like for every other version, we do have a forum thread to discuss the release and a really lengthy changelog. For the changelog we do offer two versions, a rather nice to read players changelog that only includes changes every player will probably notice and the complete changelog with all the details. The Mac binaries and infos about some of the GNU/Linux binaries are already available at the download page. The working Windows binaries will probably be available soon.
Remove your old installation before installing this development version otherwise you might get some strange problems. You should also remove all usercontent you have left from 1.2.x since it is likely to cause problems. Keep in mind that it is a development release which might include quite many bugs. If you find one, please report it.
Wesnoth 1.2.2: Maintenance Release
Wednesday, Febuary 21 2007
Wesnoth 1.2.2 has been released. The most impressive changes are the speed improvements maxy did implement. Especially in the mp-lobby and when showing animations the game should be a whole lot faster. Savegames were cleaned up to be a little smaller. Because of this only beginning of scenario saves will work as expected, others may have problems with the recall list. Of course there were many other changes so that i can not list them all in here. For all the nice details have a look at the changelog. You can read the announcement and make your comments in this forum thread. The Mac binaries and infos about some of the GNU/Linux binaries are already available at the download page. Don't ask when the Windows binaries will be ready, we have no idea about this...
If you have problems, follow the instructions given here. If this does not help, please report them.
