Irdya in the Thunderstone Era

150 BU: Intermediate period: Before (Human) Unification

150 - 144 BU

  • The First Elven War is fought after the assassination of an elvish lord.

140-125 BU

  • Due to the discovery of gunpowder, guns begin to take over as the primary weapon. First it is used by Chaos Empire remnants, but it soon spreads through Irdya.

123 BU

  • As humanity begins to recover, four cousins band together to (via military conquest) unite the scattered lands.

118 BU

  • The eldest cousin, who was the leader, dies in battle and his brothers disagree who should rule. They each form their own kingdom. All three kingdoms combined form most of civilized humanity.

111-87 BU

  • The Second Elven War begins as technology begins to advance at a rapid rate. What starts as a civil war among elves eventually receives human intervention. Bitter, the elves grow increasingly anti-technology.

88-83 BU

  • The Great Northern War is fought between orcs and dwarves. In the final year, the northern human kingdom forms an alliance with the dwarves, saving them from defeat.

73 BU

  • Unrest grows within the elves as the anti-technology faction takes over.

40-32 BU

  • Using recently discovered technology, a space race begins amongst the three human kingdoms. Dwarves are the next to enter, followed closely by orcs.

33 BU

  • The Third Elven War begins when the elves resist human expansion from the southern human kingdom. This time, the war does not have a decisive ending as the elves resort to guerilla warfare against human invaders.

29 BU

  • After elven successes on the battlefield, the northern human kingdom and their dwarven allies intervene.
  • The eastern human kingdom almost enters on the side of the elves to maintain a balance of power, but a politician named Rhegaec stops them.

27 BU

  • After numerous losses on both sides, a cease-fire is called for 10 years so both sides can work out their differences.

25 BU

  • Orcish raids in the north intensify.

23 BU

  • Humanity begins colonizing off-world.

19 BU

  • Elves finally enter space.

17 BU

  • The cease-fire expires, and the war is technically continued, but no side attacks when the time comes.
  • Crisis erupts in the north human kingdom as orcish raiders sack their capital.

15 BU

  • What starts as border skirmishes turns into all-out war in the south, again. Their allies are unable to help and the east is unwilling.

12 BU

  • Rhegaec proposes peaceful human unification into one empire, with a figurehead emperor ruling over a senate. He is largely ignored.

4 BU

  • Mysterious, spontaneous economic collapse in the eastern kingdom, a major defeat in the north against the orcs, and a major defeat in the south against the elves all happen within weeks. Representatives approach Rhegaec.

3 BU

  • Lieutenant Aethalwyn distinguishes himself in battle on Gammac B as the orcish plan to raid the colony is foiled.

1 AU - 34: After (Human) Unification; The Reign of Rhegaec

1 AU

  • Rhegaec is crowned emperor as the three human kingdoms unite. Althought it is intended to be a symbolic position, he gains a controlling majority in the senate. His word is law.

THUNDERSTONE PART II (Some Events)

3 AU

  • Aethalwyn defeats the elves in a series of battles, and forces an extremely favorable peace settlement. The elves are humiliated.

4 AU

  • After his victories in the south, Aethalwyn moves north and decimate the orcish population. While he acted like a gentlemen with the elves, he shows no respect with the orcs.

6 AU

  • Most orcs are rounded up, sent to reservations (mostly in the desert) on Gammac B, and treated like slaves.

6-34 AU

  • Peace and stability on Irdya during the rest of the reign of Rhegaec.
  • Most humans who were not part of the three original kingdoms come under the rule of the empire during this time.

34 AU

  • The orcs begin to revolt from Gammac B.
  • Troll mutations are discovered from vicious experiments done upon them while in captivity.

35 AU: The Reign of Rhegacyn

THUNDERSTONE TRILOGY (Most Events)

35 AU

  • Orcish hostilities increase, both with outsiders and with each other, as they continue to reorganize.
  • Emperor Rhegaec I dies. His son, Rhegacyn, is made emperor.
  • Suspicious and fearful of the old adviser and war hero, Emperor Rhegacyn sends Aethalwyn off to a "defend" remote mining colony. It is really just a way to get him as far away as possible from the seat of power.
  • The highly destructive Thunderstone substance is discovered.
    • The imperial forces confiscate the Thunderstone and take most of it back to Irdya.
  • Aethalwyn's son, Saethamic, leads human forces as violence begins to break out again.
    • Sent on increasingly suicidal missions, Saethamic pulls off a series of impressive wins. Before the year's end, he is assassinated.
  • Aethalwyn is imprisoned.
