Эльфы проводят большую часть своей жизни, оттачивая свои навыки и задатки. Те же, кто неумел в магических искусствах, обычно посвящают время развитию физических умений, часто ради спортивных состязаний. Как итог, из эльфов выходят превосходные лучники — это ремесло можно быстро применять в битве со впечатляющими успехами. Из эльфов происходит много знаменитых музыкантов, особенно способных в обращении с духовыми и струнно-щипковыми инструментами, они собираются в небольшие ансамбли. Эоловы арфы Этенвуда, например, выполнены из изумительной древесины эльфийских тисовых деревьев — ходят легенды об их мягких, плавных тонах.

Общество эльфов в примерно равной доле разделено на три сословья: полу-воинственную фракцию, ответственную за защиту их лесов; мирных жителей, обычно ремесленников и зодчих; а также лекарей и посвящённых, они поддерживают связь эльфов с файери. За управление всеми тремя сторонами жизни несёт ответственность дворянство, к которым относятся скорее как к слугам обширного общественного порядка, чем как к строгим правителям народа. Порядок выделения знати в разнообразных эльфийских конклавах различается: правящий совет Весмира — Калиан — избирается на выборах, а дворянство в Линтанире достаётся по наследству.

В трудные времена иерархия руководства становится подвижнее, и обыкновенные аристократы передают бразды правления более военизированным маршалам. По традиции, как в Весмире, так и в Линтанире кроме этого приглашают колдунью из ордена посвященных, чтобы ускорить передачу власти.
