This page is for users to describe user-made scenarios, campaigns, or game modifications they have done.

If you cannot use the campaign server for some reason, see #Campaign Server Web Access

For user-contributed campaigns that are distributed with Wesnoth, see MainlineScenarios.

Not all user campaigns are fully playable. This page contains information on playability of some campaigns, but not all yet. Status of User Scenarios is a summary of the current state of user campaigns, updated regularly.

The Campaign Server

The campaigns described below are currently not distributed with Wesnoth itself, but most can be obtained through the Campaign Server that is part of version 0.8.5 and later. The campaign server is accessed from within the game itself. Start "The Battle for Wesnoth", click "Campaigns", then scroll down (or press the End key) to the last entry in the list, "Get more campaigns". Accept the default server campaigns.wesnoth.org to connect and download a new campaign.

Campaign Server Web Access

There is now a web interface to the campaign server. It allows you to sort campaigns on one of several characteristics. Campaign descriptions, translations and time of last update are also available on the web interface. (Though the official campaign server isn't returning that information yet.) Campaigns can be downloaded as gzipped tar archives which you should extract into your local campaigns directory. (~/.wesnoth/data/campaigns/ on *nix systems, ~/Libraray/Preferences/Wesnoth/data/campaigns on Macs and C:\Program Files\Wesnoth\userdata\data\campaigns on Windows.)

User Campaigns on the Campaign Server

The following campaigns are available on the campaign server, and are, as far as possible, listed alphabetically (to list campaigns on the campaign server alphabetically, click the heading above the campaign names).

All information on whether or not a campaign works was refers to version 1.0 and up of wesnoth, and does not include bugs in individual scenarios-just the campaign as a whole.


Attack of the Undead

Delfador's Memoirs

Delfador's memoirs, a campaign set during the time of King Garard I, featuring Delfador and other characters from Heir to the Throne, with a focus on atmosphere and good dialog.

Submitted to the WesCamp project for translation of user campaigns. The campaign server contains i18n version of the campaign now.

Eternal Kingdom

Fall of Silvium, The

This campaign deals with the last days of the Lavinian Empire, and the events surrounding its downfall.

Flight to Freedom

Forgotten Legacy

This is a campaign focusing on the saurian faction. It is focused mainly on storyline and diversity. Most of the saurian units are new custom ones so don't expect to be playing on familiar territory.


Gryphon's Tale, A

A Gryphon's Tale tells the story of a community of civilized Gryphons, and of a young ambitious female among them who falls into unusual circumstances.

Legend of Wesmere

This epic campaign features the history of the Elves of Wesnoth and Kalenz from the time of the second orcish invasion of Wesnoth till the times of Delfador and Konrad and features Crelanu, Haldric II and Black Eye Karun(Kapoue's father). It sheds much light on the ruby and subsequently sceptre of fire, and explains how a period of peace, known as the Golden Age of Wesnoth, came about.

Liberty

The Outlaw Campaign

The chronicles of how a certain group of Wesnothians were betrayed by their ruler and decided to fight back. This made them outlaws in the crown's eyes, but hopefully heroes in ours. http://www.wesnoth.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3095

There are 8 scenarios and some goodies to boot. The main focus is to provide the experience of recruiting and recalling higher level outlaw characters, which you don't normally get to do. While there is a range of difficulty in the scenarios, the overall intent is for them to be straightforward and not too difficult. Since the other feature of the campaign is to try and tell a good story, you won't find scenario descriptions anywhere other than in the game.

Mystery Campaign

A infinitely long, randomly generated campaign that increases in difficulty as you play.

Northern Rebirth

Orcish Incursion, An

A 7 scenario mini-campaign with an emphasis on strategy, with hints for beginners. Defend the Elven forests from marauding orcs.

Saving Elensefar

A campaign detailing an Elf's great trip across the sea trying to gather an army and defeat orcs who have taken Elensefar. It also helps to explain better the history between Elensefar and Wesnoth.

Sceptre of Fire, The

Turin's campaign about the creation of the sceptre of fire. It intentionally goes against what is stated about the sceptre in Heir to the Throne, but that is because what is stated in HttT would not make an interesting campaign.

Seed of Evil, A

Frontier

(DEVELOPMENT CEASED)

This is an action campaign, 5 scenarios in the wild mountains. As of 04 July 2004 development for this campaign is in hold.

Assassin Campaign

(DEVELOPMENT CEASED)

A campaign by Gafgarion which focuses on smaller armies and stealthy tactics. Relatively heavy on RPG elements, but light on large army combat compared to most Wesnoth campaigns.
